Frankenstein's Army (2013)

Frankenstein’s Army (2013)

Overall:

A bit campy and ridiculous, but if you can get past that then you’ll find a great example of a found footage creature feature movie. The monster are strikingly similar to silent hill monsters (the video game ones, mostly) and, oddly, the Big Brother machine/men from Bioshock. I feel like that’s intentional, as though they aimed these movies at the Call Of Duty and Horror FPS gamers. Naturally, I was drawn in.

The story is that there’s a platoon of soldiers taking out nazis and on a mission to take out Dr. Frankenstein himself. One of them has a secret mission that he’s been unwillingly sent for, and if he fails they’ll kill his whole family. They find the place this man is hiding and it’s a mostly abandoned farm. The first weird mutant reanimated freak attacks them and they discover the grotesque army that Frankenstein has been building.

There’s a lot of evil in this movie. Sociopaths on both sides, the ‘war is hell’ idea laid on pretty thick. There’s a lot of body parts flying around as the soldiers are chased and maimed and chopped up for parts or turned into a creature too.
